The third edition of the open water competition between Formentera and Ibiza will be held on the 23rd of May 2015. As a new feature this year, three distances have been integrated into the competition: 30 km, 5 km and 750 m.

The great crossing, which has a distance of 30 km; links the islands between Es Pujols and Santa Eulalia. This is one of the toughest swimming competitions in the Balearic Islands, and where physical resistance is pushed to its limit in open waters. Juan José Serra holds the record of this crossing with a timing of 11h and 30 min.

We believe a new record will be set this year because the competition will begin at the start of the crossing and will end at the finish line. Accordingly, the average rhythm which has been set is of 3 km/h and the swimmers must pass the checkpoints found at kms. 15 and 25 in hours 5 and 8 with twenty minutes respectively or shall be disqualified. For more information read the regulations for 2015.

In the second crossing, the distance is 5 km, and links the beaches of Cala Llonga and Santa Eulalia. It is expected that this crossing will have more participants because there are many swimmers on the island as a well as from other places who can be eligible for the competition.

Finally, there will be a popular crossing of 750 m along Santa Eulalia beach where everyone is welcome to take part, in order to bring sports closer to everyone.
