4k Lock to Lock Swim

Swum along a beautiful stretch of the River Thames to the west side of Oxford this swim is aimed at all levels of swimmers. Either you’re looking for your first taste of river swimming or you’re training for an Iron Man and would like to swim the full distance before your main event. The swim starts at Eynsham Lock and finishes 4km downstream at Kings Lock. And because it’s with the flow of the river it makes progress a little easier.

The 4k Lock to Lock River Thames downstream swim from Eynsham Lock to Kings Lock takes you through the naturally picturesque landscape of Wytham woods and Oxford University pastures . For swimmers who would like a challenging wild swim event this adventure is for you . If you wish to race and aim to achieve a personal best timing chips will be used to record all results. Swimmers will set off in waves of 20 to 30 at regular intervals with space between each wave to ensure all swimmers can enjoy the experience of participating in this wild river swimming event.

Swimmers should be familiar with open water swimming and able to complete the 4k distance. Open water swimming is different to pool based swimming. The option of wearing a wetsuit depends upon you’re swimming experience and is not compulsory but recommended. If in doubt please contact us regarding your previous open water swimming experience. Wetsuits are excellent for buoyancy and are important for retaining heat. For safety reasons we recommend wearing a comfortable wetsuit.
