LEN Open Water Cup: Germany’s Soeren Meissner, Leonie Beck Claim Victories

The fifth and final leg of the LEN Open Water Cup in Copenhagen offered the usual excitements for the swimmers who covered the 6K course swimming in the canals around the Danish Parliament. It ended in a double German win: Soeren Meissner was the best among the men and compatriot Leonie Beck came first in the women’s race.

N. Macedonia's lake city Ohrid to host 2019 LEN open water cup

The lake city of Ohrid, southwest of North Macedonia, will host the 2019 Open Water Cup on Sunday.

The event is organized by the European Swimming League, known as Ligue Europeenne de Natation (LEN) in cooperation with the North Macedonian Swimming Federation, Aleksandar Malenko, President of the Federation said at a press conference.

The French Swimming Federation utilized the opening leg of the 2019 LEN Open Water Cup in Eilat, Israel as the French national qualification race for the upcoming 2019 FINA World Championships.

Ferry Weertman, 2018 FINA Male Open Water Swimmer

Olympic and world champion Ferry Weertman won the FINA Male Open Water Swimmer 2018 Award as a result of outstanding performances at the LEN Championships in Scotland's Loch Lomondand winning the 2018 FINA Marathon Swim World Series. 

2019 EUROPEAN OPEN WATER WORLD CUP LOCATIONS, DATES ANNOUNCED

The European Swimming League Bureau met on October 13th in Amsterdam, where they agreed on the frequency, locations and dates of the 2019 Open Water World Cup.

START OF COMPETITION 
Each day at 10:00.
There will be 15 minutes between waves on 3 km and 20 minutes between waves on 5 km distance.
The OW Swimming event and wetsuits use will be staged under FINA Open Water Regulations and By-Laws.
