Ferry Weertman, 2018 FINA Male Open Water Swimmer

Olympic and world champion Ferry Weertman won the FINA Male Open Water Swimmer 2018 Award as a result of outstanding performances at the LEN Championships in Scotland's Loch Lomondand winning the 2018 FINA Marathon Swim World Series. 

2019 EUROPEAN OPEN WATER WORLD CUP LOCATIONS, DATES ANNOUNCED

The European Swimming League Bureau met on October 13th in Amsterdam, where they agreed on the frequency, locations and dates of the 2019 Open Water World Cup.

Hungary’s Kristof Rasovszky keeps on rolling: after claiming two golds and a silver at the European Championships in Glasgow, he finished his LEN Open Water Cup campaign with back-to-back wins.

9 September 2018 for 5 km.

START OF COMPETITION 
Each day at 10:00.
There will be 15 minutes between waves on 3 km and 20 minutes between waves on 5 km distance.
The OW Swimming event and wetsuits use will be staged under FINA Open Water Regulations and By-Laws.

Kristof Rasovszky, Alisa Tettamanzi Win Open Water Cup in Copenhagen

Kristof Rasovszky seems to be unstoppable: just two weeks after claiming two golds and a silver at the European Championships, the Hungarian hero won the 5th leg of the LEN Open Water Cup in Copenhagen. It was his third win in the series this season. The women’s title went to Alisa Tettamanzi, this is the fourth Italian triumph in a row in the women’s cup in 2018, achieved by four different swimmers.

Van Rouwendaal edged out in bid for fourth gold

Sharon van Rouwendaal produced the most astounding comeback of the European Championships after losing her way in the 25km open swimming event only to still come agonisingly close to completing a clean sweep of four golds in Loch Lomond on Sunday.

‘King Ferry’ delivers Dutch another late, late gold

Ferry Weertman was hailed as the “king of the open water” after once again delivering one of his celebrated last-gasp shows in Loch Lomond to deliver gold for the Netherlands in the 5km mixed team event at the European Championships.

WEERTMAN’S PHOTO FINISH WIN GIVES DUTCH SWEEP OF OW 10K IN GLASGOW

After an incredibly close photo finish in the men’s 10k at the European Championships, the judges took several minutes to analyze who the winner was between Ferry Weertman of the Netherlands and Kristof Rasovszky of Hungary. They were both given identical times of 1:49:28.2, but after much deliberation, it was determined that it was Weertman who had indeed touched first.

Van Rouwendaal completes golden double in the 10km

Dutch Olympic champion Sharon van Rouwendaal completed an open water swimming double at the European Championships on Thursday when she added the blue riband 10 km title to the 5km gold she won 24 hours earlier.
